Hi out there!

I have been reading some blogs and found them to be interesting.  I hope as my blog goes along you will find it to be something you enjoy.  I don't have a plan, or theme.  Just more of a place to write my thoughts or ideas down in a place that isn't going to be read by my family or friends.  The anonymity of this site is going to allow me to let my thoughts out without having to measure my words so carefully.

The idea of writing came to me as a way of communicating my thoughts and ideas.  Since the company I worked for (for ten years) went into an economic downfall I have been unemployed for a year and a half.  Yes, there are lots of us out there now. Having no fellow employees to interact with, I have missed the stimulation of conversation and sharing of ideas.

So many of us are facing the challenges of dealing with not having the opportunity of doing work we enjoyed doing and bringing in a paycheck for it.  I have, to my surprise, found that I miss the structure that I had with a job.

Funny thing about that.  When I was at work I thought, "If I were home I would..." insert something interesting here.  Try a new recipe, get my closets cleaned out, start writing that children's book I had ideas for.  But, now that I am home, every day, I find that I am a procrastinator.  Wow, where did that come from?  Perhaps I need to set goals and develop a timeline for meeting them.  See, this blog thing is starting to work for me!!

Both my husband and I have worked in the construction industry for over 30 years.   We lost our jobs here in California within a year of each other. It has been devastating financially.  You know, you go along in life doing the "right things", saving, planning, not running up bills, keeping your house in order so to speak. Then things you have no control over slam into you. It has been a real struggle to keep a belief of being able to work through things and come out of this overwhelming period with a sense of being in control of our lives.

Briefly, about me...I am married to a man I love, my two sons are married to women that are wonderful and that I admire.  My husband and I have three grandchildren.  Two girls and a boy, all under the age of 4 1/2.    I was born in East Texas and grew up in Northern California.  I managed a department for a residential construction company.

I hope you won't find me boring, but if you do, there are many other blogs that might interest you.
